Michael Smith

lead Pastor

Rev. Michael Smith is a South Jersey native who has served in ministry for 13 years. He and his wife, Albree, have three young children. Michael served most recently as the Superintendent of Congregational and Community Vitality in the Mountain Sky Conference. He has previously served as senior pastor of Clinton UMC (Clinton, NJ), Tabernacle UMC (Erma, NJ) and as associate pastor of Saint Peter’s UMC (Ocean City, NJ). Michael uses creativity and innovation to increase vitality in every church he serves. He loves spending time with his family, music, movies, and the Philadelphia Eagles. 


Sunghyuk Kim

Associate Pastor

Rev. Sunghyuk Kim was born into a pastoral family and grew up in Seoul, South Korea, and La Palma, CA. He has a B.Th. from Methodist Theological University in Seoul (2014) and an M.Div. from Drew Theological School in Madison, New Jersey (2018). In addition, he completed Clinical Pastoral Education (Level 1) at Morristown Medical Center in 2018. Sunghyuk served as the Director of Christian Education, Youth Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and AWANA Ministry of Arcola Korean UMC in Paramus, NJ. Later he served as the Lead Pastor of Wesley UMC in Edison, NJ, before joining Trinity UMC. Sunghyuk is passionate about increasing the vitality of church ministry and is happy to serve the Lord with his wife, Joy, who also serves Trinity as the Worship Specialist.


Joy Son

Worship Specialist

Joy grew up in a Methodist pastoral family in South Korea. Ever since she was young and until now, she believes that worship is central to the Christian faith and congregational song is the heartbeat. Joy earned her B.M. in Piano Performance from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia (2019) and graduated from Drew Theological School in Madison, New Jersey with a Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry (2023). Before coming to Trinity, she served as the Music Specialist at Bridgewater UMC (Bridgewater, NJ). Joy feels joy when she plays piano, organ, and cello. She loves all styles of music and is passionate about striving to bring her best to God through her ministry with Trinity UMC.


Lauren Salber

DIRECTOR of Children’s and Family Ministry

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys the outdoors, being amongst those she loves, cooking, and trying new places to eat. She currently works full-time as the Director of Free to Be Me Preschool in Mullica Hill. Lauren has worked with children throughout her entire working career. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and is currently pursuing her master’s in Social Work online. For most of her life, she has lived in New Jersey, however, she has also lived in Pennsylvania and Alabama. Trinity United Methodist Church has been a part of Lauren’s life since she was a child.

Tamah Freni

Director of music ministry

Tamah Freni received her B.M. in music education from Westminster Choir College in 1994, where she studied conducting under Constantina Tsolainou and James Jordan, and sang under the batons of Joseph Flummerfelt, Riccardo Muti, and Robert Shaw. Since then, she has been teaching music in Camden County schools. Tamah resides in Gloucester Township with her husband Jason, three children, and their two rescue dogs.
